Some digital hearing aids can cause interference on personal fm radio aid systems using direct input. Hearing aid specifiers and manufacturer are working together to produce low emission digital hearing aids to eliminate the problem. As an interim measure Connevans have designed in-line RF filters enabling us to offer a range of fmGenie direct input leads which will reduce problems of occasional noise interference from digital hearing aids.
The word ‘reduce’ is very intentional as due to the nature of the interference we are unable to eliminate it. The effectiveness will vary for different hearing aids so our suggestion is to give them a try, they will not make interference worse.
Notes:
1 fmGenie receivers must be set to HI audio o/p when using fmGenie RF interference direct input leads.
2 The fmGenie hearing aid microphone muting facility does not operate when using fmGenie RF interference direct input leads.
If you are looking for a lead to use with your Oticon hearing aids and a personal audio player you should use a standard fmGenie lead, not a filter lead.
The fmGenie direct input leads are unattenuated and must only be used with fmGenie receivers. A range of direct input leads for use with personal stereos is available in the Help with audio and television' area from the left website panel these are clearly identified by having a blue 3.5mm jack plug. Personal stereo direct leads may be purchased here.
